Christian Bale Is Done Playing Batman For Good!

For the last time, Christian Bale will not be playing Batman again, not in a stand-alone movie, and not in a Justice League film.

That's the word from the actor himself in a recent inquiry from Entertainment Weekly, who followed up with the star of Chris Nolan's "Dark Knight Trilogy" after the successful opening of the Nolan-produced Man of Steel, said to be a springboard for more DC Universe live-action films.

"We were incredibly fortunate to get to make three [Batman films]. That’s enough. Let’s not get greedy," Bale told EW. "Chris [Nolan] always said he wanted to make it one film at a time. And we ended up sitting there looking at each other, saying ‘We’re about to make the third.’ We never really knew if we were going to get to be there, but if that was how it was going to be, this was where it should end as well."

In fact, Bale hasn't even had so much as an official conversation about Justice League.

"I have no information, no knowledge about anything. I’ve literally not had a conversation with a living soul. I understand that they may be making a Justice League movie, that’s it," said the actor. "[Batman] is a torch that should be handed from one actor to another. So I enjoy looking forward to what somebody else will come up with."

This all follows writer David S. Goyer's statements mid-June, when he said Bale would not be back as Batman in any future films. Goyer specifically stated that the Bruce Wayne we can assume exists in the Man of Steel universe thanks to an easter egg "would be a different Bruce Wayne" than the Nolan films.

So, fans can finally move on and start their casting call blog entries desperately trying to predict who will be Batman alongside Henry Cavill's Superman.... now.
